I began music early, and the bassoon starting at age 15. I immediately fell in love with it the first time I heard a live symphony orchestra (the Vancouver Symphony) and pursued a full time music career beginning in 1978. Including 14 years with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, I was a full time professional musician for over 20 years and since then have continued to freelance.

My career has brought many varied highlights such as performing chamber music as well as a soloist, broadcast recording and touring, and of course the life of the symphony musician, playing the master works and more.

I studied with two premiere artists on the bassoon - Christopher Millard, Principal Bassoonist of the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Canada's capital, Ottawa, Ontario; and David Carroll, former Assistant Principal of the Montreal Symphony and the New York Philharmonic.

Although my livelihood is now in the technology sector, I love every minute of the orchestral opportunities I am privileged to receive as a freelance player in the Twin Cities area. I am also bassoon instructor at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
